Four Secrets to Blissful Eating

HOW we eat is just as important as WHAT we eat!

1. Environment
Ask your self: Is this environment supportive for my digestion? Am I sitting down? Am I at the computer? Can I go outside? Try to take a break when you eat and not continue to work. Look at something beautiful, joyful. Connect with a friend over lunch. Sit by a tree. Look at a beautiful picture or listen to relaxing, enjoyable music. The more relaxed you are the better you will digest your food. You deserve at least one meal in peace a day.

2. Attitude
Ask yourself: Am I in a bad mood? Am I feeling angry? Am I anxious? Solutions: Call a friend. Talk to someone who comforts you that you feel safe being honest with. Write down how you’re feeling. Check in with yourself. “Can I take a break from what’s troubling me and eat?” Do the best you can. Try to honor your true feelings and what is going on with you. It’s a process to stay aware and awake to our needs.

3. Breathing
Breathing helps the digestive system run smoothly, helps us calm down, brings oxygen all over the body, especially to the brain helping us feel calm and connecting us to ourselves.Breathe while you eat.

4. Chewing
Our stomach does not have teeth! Honor your sensitive and strong organs, chew the food enough so that it can be absorbed efficiently and you will receive the nutrients. We feel more blissful when we are not bloated or having pain and the food is being used efficiently.

The Benefits of using food and mindful eating as a self-care tool are endless! To name a few: Easy Digestion. More Energy. Better relationships and connections with people. More love of self and our body!
