My Story
I have always loved food and loved to eat!
Food was a real comfort for me growing up and when I turned 16 years old, my body started to change. I was unable to eat the same way I had all those years without gaining weight or feeling sick. With no education about food, I began a roller coaster ride of binging, going long periods of time without eating and started using caffeine and cigarettes to control my appetite.
As a young adult, I suffered from mood swings, depression, cramps, colds, throat infections, yeast infections and cold sores. Yuck! I had low self-esteem and was constantly unhappy in my body.
At 27 years old, I picked up a magazine from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC and read the words: YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT! I thought, "Oh no! I'm diet coke and pizza! This can't be good!" I knew in my heart that my depression and mood swings were the result of poor nutrition and my addictions to harmful foods and other substances that did not serve me.
I decided to go through the training program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to heal my own health concerns and the results were extraordinary. I had no idea that simple changes in my diet could completely change the way that I felt. As I began to heal through the magic of eating whole foods and getting support, I discovered I had a passion for sharing this information and a talent for counseling women to make changes that have a profound impact on their health. I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 1998 and continued to work there for the next three years. I managed their Health Counseling Program, mentored students through training programs and taught cooking classes to the public. I then began a private practice and collaborated with Healing Spirits and Sea Change Healing Center in NYC.
For 13 years, I have taught classes and lead workshops on whole foods, women's nutrition and spiritual growth at The Actor's Institute, the National Basketball Association, Grey Advertising, the Golden Gate Mom’s Group, The French American School, Every Child Counts and Fruition Women's Health. I have collaborated with Jill Harris at Informed Body Pilates Studio in San Francisco for an exciting program integrating Pilates and Nutritional Counseling. I am proud to have worked at Fruition Women’s Health 3 years. I am a certified Angel Therapy Practitioner through Doreen Virtue, Ph.D. and a certified Mind-Sound Technology Teacher.
I have coached hundreds of women through health counseling programs as they make a profound journey, learning to love their bodies and nourish themselves with all kinds of food. I love to support women to discover a life they love and feel amazing!
